Insurance coverage to cars

Postby Princess Pei Pei » Tue Mar 09, 2010 2:45 pm

So my car got damaged in the snowstorm, and insurance will pay for repairs. But there are also areas of rust now that was caused from the snow. Some of those areas weren't damaged, but caused rusting. Will that get covered too?

Depending on the insurance company i believe. (I can be wrong). i remember someone telling me about incident. Some companies will pay the per incident coverage. If that snowstorm was 1 incident that caused all that then it may be covered. If they find that its separate incidents then you have to pay each incident deductible x|

yeah, it was one incident. but it's rust. do they cover for rust coverage? the other physical damage for sure they'll cover, but i've never heard about coverage for rust from an incident.

you might as well take some rocks and throw it into those spots and say it was from the storm too (<_<)

(disclaimer: that was not official advice, i will not be held liable for your decision of which action to take lol)

Everything is covered. You might have to fight the insurance company or even hire a lawyer if they refuse to pay but everything is covered. Remember, its pre-loss condition. Google that term and read as much as you can.

how did it end up? since it's been couple months now . . . did they cover the rust? i hope so because it was due to the damage of the snow storm . . . if they are already taking care of the damages . . . might as well take care of the rust as well . . .

yes, they covered the rust. at first they were trying to dispute that it should be covered (rust takes a long time to form, so it couldn't have been from the storm), but it was pretyy obvious that it happened at the same time (it is in the same area of damage).
